I've been wanting to see Beaufort, South Carolina for the longest time now, so when I knew we were going right past it on the way to Jekyll Island, Ga, we just had to stop and it was absolutely one of the cutest coastal towns I have seen. We will definitely be going back.
Caroline actually rode in her stroller this trip. This is huge for us because she has never willingly done this before. She was actually asking to get in it, which was a great relief because it was so hot and lugging her around on my hip makes it even hotter.
We stopped for lunch at Plum restaurant. It was really good, I'd recommend it. Coming off of eating in Charleston, expectation for restaurant meal standards are set very high, but it was a good, simple meal. Juston was so excited to finally have oysters.
The Beaufort waterfront is just beautiful. We only spent a few hours in Beaufort, so I definitely can't wait to get back and really explore more on foot and see more sights.
The homes we passed along thewaterfront were breathtaking. I just haven't seen many things more beautiful than the lowcountry. Here are a few of my favorite homes.
We plan on returning to both Beaufort, NC and Beaufort, SC next fall for a week and really spending more time. I think the plan is to rent a house and try catching our own dinner a few days. Juston found the perfect house in Beaufort, SC that has it's own dock complete with crabbing baskets and supplies. It will just be a dream come true if we actually make that vacation work. I would move to the Lowcountry in a heartbeat, especially if I could bring the rest of my family along. I don't think that my parents would take much convincing ;)
