Recent Reads

Reading is absolutely one of my favorite things to do with any free time I can carve out outside of exercising, so I try and take about twenty minutes every night while I'm pumping to do some reading. I've recently finished two great books, so I thought I'd share as I would definitely recommend both of them.

The Weekenders by Mary Kay Andrews I just finished last night and it had a little bit of everything from coming of age with the main character's daughter, a murder mystery component, a little bit of romance, you name it. MKA is one of those authors that I don't even read the synopsis of what her new books are about, I just order them. I love everything she's ever done and I have read them all. I've linked to the book just below the photo.

Lowcountry Wedding is part of a series of books, but I feel like if you haven't read the entire series, this book could still stand alone and you wouldn't be lost. Monroe does a good job of giving enough backstory from the previous books. I have read the other books in the series though and enjoyed all of those as well, so if you're a reader, you'll like those, too. This book basically wraps up the loose ends from the first three books in the series and I love a good wedding book. Has anyone else read these? Or have any other books you'd recommend? I'll read anything good :) I still have three books I need to finish from the early summer book buying binge I went on, but I like to pick up a big ole stack at the beginning of each new season. The next book I have to brush up on is my real estate book since I have my exam in a couple of weeks! Wish me luck!

Labor Day Weekend

We had a great, albeit quick, Labor Day weekend. I'm not quite ready to let go of summer just yet, and it's still 90 degrees here anyway, so I don't have to :) Our weekend included a cookout at my sister's family camper. I made my BLT potato salad and we took Caroline bike over and let her ride around the camp ground. It's her favorite thing to do over there outside of roasting marshamallows.

While I spent most of the day Sunday cleaning and organizing the house, we were also able to squeeze in some time on the boat on Monday before the weekend was over. We even managed to get Juston to come out after his early morning hunting trip. My husband and I could not be more opposite when it comes to our interests. I would absolutely love to have a boat of our own, but I'd have to be able to do it all myself with the kids as Juston could not care any less. He did buy himself a little fishing boat, but it's not exactly what we could take out for family outings, so it's usually just me and Caroline tagging along with my brother-in-law and sister when they go out with their kids. This was also Carter's first boat ride.

I'd say Juston and Carter enjoyed the boat equally from the looks of it! ha. Uncle Kursten even let Caroline drive the boat for a bit before we headed back in. WE only stayed out around an hour since we had Carter and I have to be able to pump every few hours anyway, but it was such a great time!

Carter: Four Months

Baby: Carter Scott
Age: Four months
Birthday: April 26, 2016
Weight: 15 pounds 4 ounces
Length: 25 inches long
Sleep: Carter sleeps great at night, but isn't a great napper. He'll catnap a few times a day but never is good for any really long naps. I think his sister may be a part of this;)Bedtime: 9-9:30 pm
Clothes Size: 3-6 months (barely)  or 6 months
Diaper size: 2
Milestones Reached: Reaching for things, pulling his bottle to his mouth, rolling both ways, laughing. Pretty much all of the typical 4 month milestones

This was from prior to his 4 month shots :( I feel like such a traitor when he lays there just smiling at me and I know what's coming for his fat little legs, but he cried for a minute or two, then he was back to his normal self.
