How can it be that it's already been a year since my sister was driving me to Lexington after my water had broken in the middle of the night? My labor with Carter was pretty intense for the first couple of hours since I was progressing so quickly, but once I got my epidural, it was smooth sailing. I remember just feeling so calm and relaxed at that point. I had the best nurses and sweetest midwife help me bring this baby boy into the world. I remember right after we found out we were having a boy this go-around thinking to myself, "I'm not sure how to be a boy mom. I've only ever done the pink and hairbows." I had no idea what I was in for. Carter was an answer to a prayer I never realized I'd prayed. He's the sweetest, most laid back little baby and he has been from the very beginning. He's (mostly) patient with Caroline when she wrestles and wrangles him around to get him to do what she wants, he travels great and has covered the Southeast already in twelve short months. He was the perfect addition to our little family and I couldn't have custom ordered a more perfect baby boy for me. We're all pretty crazy about him and just so darn thankful that God chose us to be his family. Happy birthday sweet Carter man!
